“Makira motivated me to take scholarships seriously and believe in myself! In high school, you always hear that there’s “free money” out there and students should apply for scholarships. Many students, and even myself at one point, don’t believe the chances of actually winning scholarships are likely. Seeing her, another Black girl from my high school attending my future university, win scholarships left and right made me realize that it is 100% possible for me to do it too! I never really knew where to start, but you helped me by telling me where to look and what kind of scholarships to do. If it wasn’t for her success and advice, I don’t think I would’ve ever started. I did scholarships almost every day from April until August. I probably turned in at least 80, and I won about 18. I believe I acquired $12k+ in scholarships within those few months.”
